Is your young athlete overtraining?

Athletics are a great source for exercise, character building and working with others. But overtraining can put your child at risk for physical injury and burnout. According to a new report from the American Academy of Pediatrics, your child should have at least one or two days off a week from competitive sports, including sport-specific training and practice. Don't allow your athlete to advance too quickly in training time or intensity. And give your child a few months off each year from a specific sport. Let's see what Dr. Peter Armstrong has to say about it on my blog.
