Heart Chips

  • Explain "heart chips" to your children.

  • Tell them you're going to "catch" them doing right – things that go above and beyond what's expected of them.

  • Determine how many heart chips it will take to get a reward. You might want to settle on increments of 10. Ten for smaller items and rewards, 20 for larger, and so forth.

  • You can use the template below for getting started. Simply cut out the hearts, or paste them onto a stiffer type paper.
  • Another idea: let the kids color them before you start the heart chips "program."
